Ye and the Mirador Del Rio walking and hiking route

Walk Instructions
Start along the minor road almost opposite the
church in Ye, ‘Calle Vega Chica’, rising quite steeply,
with old cultivation terraces to the left. The gradient
eases and there are views back over the village to the
Montana Corona (611m - 2005ft), the island’s highest
volcano. There is cultivation by the roadside, using the
ubiquitous picon, and storm water-scoured gullies on
either side of the road. The parking area for Mirador
del Rio comes into view.
1) Reach the main access road to the Mirador.
Go straight across to a dirt roadway. Pass a water
tank and continue to rise gently towards the
communications building on top of the broad ridge.
Pass the remains of a wall on the left; ignore tracks to
the left, soon reaching three circular stone structures
close to the communications building. From near to
the building there are sudden and superb views over a
vast expense of coast, including Isla Graciosa and its
port Caleta de Seba.
2) Turn sharp left to pass close to a trig point; initially
the track towards the Mirador is vague; keep about
50m to the right of the upward route. The track soon
becomes more definite. Close to the entrance to the
Mirador, the way is barred by substantial gates. Take
a little by-passing path to the left to reach the parking
area. Turn right here to visit the Mirador.
3) Leave the Mirador parking area, forking right along
a minor road which stays close to, but high above, the
coast, descending steadily with good views all the way,
a fine elevated promenade with very light traffic. As the
road descends, pass a cultivated area, with vines and
prickly pears. The church at Ye is soon in view. Pass an
impressive house on the left and rise gently to join the
LZ201 main road.
4) Turn left to return to the church at Ye.
