Walk Instructions
At the barriers with back to sea turn left along a path
raised above the marina to your left.
Start along the promenade close to the parking area,
passing above the marina. At a ‘T’ junction in front
of a large hotel turn left, passing the entrance gate
to ‘La Caleta’ restaurant. Go up steps or ramp, over
rock and sand by the side of a chainfence and rail,
then down steps to cross a tiny sandy beach. Go up
steps slightly obscured on the right hand side to
leave the beach and follow a broad gravel track,
leading over the headland ahead. The path stays
close to the coast, the views including Fuertaventura.
Cross a steep-sided little gully; there are stone cairns
marking the way. After the gully the main track turns
inland, towards a goat farm. Follow this for 50m to
a junction. *
Turn left. Stay with this track, facing the mountains.
Ignore tracks to left and right; At a fork, as the main
track bears right, inland, go straight ahead towards
the scattered fringe of Playa Quemada. Our track
heads towards the sea before bearing right in 40m to
pass inland of dwellings. Reach tarmac and continue.
Go left at a junction, then right in 60m across the
backs of sea front properties. Bars and restaurants all
face the sea.
Start the return by the same route. There there is a
choice at * - turn right to continue by the outward
route or go straight ahead, rising to another junction,
quite close to the goat farm. Turn right, away from
the farm; there is a cairn. Ignore side tracks, heading
straight for Puerto Calero. Stay with the main track as
far as the side of the large hotel before bearing right
to rejoin the outward route just above the steps down
to the mini beach.
