Walk Instructions
From the information board in the carpark, walk back 50 m and then turn left to leave the square by the little road signposted ‘Les Pezauds Les Maules’. Continue for 200 m.
1) Turn left at a broad grassy track under an electricity line, between vineyards. There is an ‘Boucle de Monbazillac’ sign. Join in 300m a surfaced road, turning right. Go through a hamlet and, when the road becomes unsurfaced, go straight on for a further 20 m. Fork left here, just before the first vines on the left, reaching a well-defined track in a few meters.
2) Follow the track, past a reservoir on your left, then it bears slightly to the left continuing to join a minor road in about 500 m. Turn left, after 100 m or so you arrive at a T-junction
3) Turn right along the road for 30 m then turn left to rise along a roadway leading to Les Croux. When, after gateposts, the road turns towards the house, go straight ahead over grass.
4) Opposite the far end of the house turn left to carry on along the path. Ignore a path joining from the right and go straight on, woodland on your right and vineyards on your left. Join a surfaced lane and continue, soon joining a minor road.
5) Turn left then fork left in 60 m, along another road. As this road bends to the right, go straight on along a waymarked grass path. There is a pond on your right hand. The path narrows, rising to meet a road at a sharp bend towards a cell tower. Go straight ahead to a T-junction. Turn right, pass a house and immediately after that, turn left along a waymarked track. Pass another house on the left and continue along the edge of a vineyard. As the track bends to the right, there is a good view of the château. Follow the edge of the vineyard turning right, slightly uphill, to reach a minor road.
6) Turn left to descend to La Cattie hamlet. Before the far end of the hamlet turn left along a waymarked track before a house, pass the end of an old house and descend, bearing slightly left, along an earth track under trees with some views of the Dordogne valley. Pass through a little wood to emerge on a stony path, vineyards are visible between the trees, turning sharp left to carry on, soon with views of the château up to the left.
7) After the château turn left to rise along a path by the side of an embankment, pass the château entrance and join the road leading directly to the church and the car park.
