Walk Instructions
Start Point
1. The Farndale Daffodil Walk begins from a small car park in the pretty hamlet of Low Mill. During the period while the daffodils are in flower (usually late March/early April), when the number of visitors rises dramatically, a nearby field is provided for extra parking spaces.
2. Follow the directions of the North York Moors National Park signpost ‘PUBLIC PATH TO HIGH MILL’. Go through the wooden gate and follow the path down to the footbridge.
3. From the footbridge you will get your first views of Farndale’s show of wild daffodils. After crossing the footbridge, follow the path along to the left.
4. You can’t go wrong at first as the clear path runs almost parallel with the River Dove - continue on through the gates. (Please remember Farndale’s daffodils are wild and protected and it is an offence to pick them).
5. Where the clear path ends, continue on through the gate and straight on across the fields, never straying too far away from the river on your left.
6. After crossing a bridge into the last field continue on towards a group of stone buildings - High Mill. Part of the old mill has been converted to tea rooms providing welcome refreshments - it is aptly named ‘Daffy Caffy’!
7. Continue on through the gate and between the buildings - the cafe is on the right.
8. From High Mill, continue on along the surfaced access road leading to another hamlet - Church Houses. Here, The Feversham Arms Inn serves excellent food as well as liquid refreshments!
9. From Church Houses, retrace your steps back along to return to Low Mill, enjoying Farndale’s natural show of beauty.
