Walk Instructions
Start Point
From the churchyard gate, start along a minor cul de sac road at the top edge of the green, passing the Ox and Plough Inn. As the road terminates, continue along a made up footpath. Bear left to cross a road and follow an un-surfaced roadway along the front of green-edge properties. Cross the main road, bearing left again to take an unmade road, parallel with the main road, passing the Gamekeeper Inn and more green-edge properties. Pass a duck pond and a shop before leaving the area of the green by the side of a minor road to head for a row of almshouses. Pass the almshouses and Old Buckenham Methodist Church.
1. About 200m. after the church, turn right at a well used track, with a ‘public footpath’ sign, an excellent path between trees across the farming countryside. At a junction turn left to continue. This track is ‘Ragg’s Lane’. On reaching bungalows bear left, soon on an un-surfaced road. Pass modern housing to reach a public road. Turn right.
2. In approximately 100m. turn left at a road junction to follow a ‘quiet lane’ rising very gently. Bear right at a fork. At a more important road go straight across to follow ‘Stacksford’. Stay with the road through Stacksford village, a spaced out settlement of predominantly modern houses. This road is another quiet lane. Go straight ahead at a junction, with an ‘Old Buckenham’ signpost.
3. Go straight across at a cross roads, heading for a fine old windmill. Pass the mill complex which includes a Mill House and Mill Cottages before reaching a corner of the green at Old Buckenham. Go straight ahead at a junction, turn left at a crossroads and cross the main road to head directly to the parking area by the churchyard gate.
