This is a circular walk takes you to Horsey Beach and to the National Trust Windpump. The beach at Horsey Gap is famous for the ever increasing Grey Seal colony. The beach changes to a vast nursery when 2,000+ pups are born each year from late October to early February. Beach access is closed to protect the pups during this time, but good viewing platforms allow the public to witness the spectacular sight from the sand dunes.

1 - Head to the gates immediately opposite the carpark entrance and cross the road. Walk straight across the field, with a ditch on your left for 480 metres. Please be aware of grazing livestock.

2 - Once at the end of the field, turn left and go over a stile into another field and walk a further 167 metres. Continue onto a track for 300 metres.

3 - Turn right onto a narrow lane at the end of the track. Continue past a barrier at a junction with two cottages and follow another track for 650 metres. You are now heading towards the sea and will reach the sand dunes of Horsey Beach.

4 - Turn left once on the beach or dunes and walk for 1207 metres until your reach the Horsey Gap Car Park. Leave the carpark and follow the track down to the main road.

5 - Turn right on the road and walk approx. 120 metres until a public footpath sign appears on the opposite side of the road. Follow the footpath, passing the village and Horsey Church, dating back to the 12th Century and worth a visit.

6 - Follow the road round to the left for approx. 138 metres. Then cross the road and turn right following a narrow path.

7. At the end of the path turn right onto a lane and then immediately left and follow the lane to Erpingham village. Before reaching the Village you will pass the site of an old mill. Erpingham was one of the very few places in Norfolk to have both a watermill and a windmill on the same site.

7 - Follow the path alongside the main road which takes you back to the National Trust carpark on your right.
