Walk Instructions
Start Point
Note, the route map only shows the route to Turre since we recommend that you follow the same route back to the site.
Turre is one of the closest villages to Alfaix and offers plentiful places to eat and drink. Should you wish, there are opportunities to return to Alfaix by taxi however, we would suggest you explore this with reception before setting off.
(To shorten the walk and to avoid the town completely there are several informal areas along the minor road/railway line which are suitable for car parking). Turn left towards the signposted Karting complex 300 yards before reaching the major junction.
The Route:
1. Leave the HPB site taking a left turn from the main gate, passing the mini-market on the left.
2. Follow the road, ignoring a right turn, continue straight ahead leading onto a corner bend with a dirt track leading straight off the road.
3. Pick up this track, keeping right until you see an abandoned building on the right hand side of the railway line. Take a left turn just before this building, heading underneath the railway.
4. Now you should have the railway on the right hand side. Head towards the large properties along this good track until you reach the road Carretera de Los Gallardos a Turre. (You may have already travelled this road since it leads to Turre itself.)
5. Joining up with the road take a right turn, now heading onto a bridge over the railway, then take a sharp left turn down a very good track signposted: ‘Vereda de Caramaco’.
6. From this point, you need to follow this good track using the railway as a handrail on the left all the way. Soon you will see Turre in the distance up ahead.
7. Carrying on this track, you will head through the middle of two reservoirs, soon after which you will spot the riverbed (Rio Aguas) on the right - handrail this, using it as a guide. Just after passing some abandoned buildings on the left you will meet a junction with a right turn leading down across the riverbed. Take this.
8. Once you’ve taken this right turn down into the riverbed take your second left turn, following the path up to some agricultural buildings keeping the large polly tunnels to your left. Stay on this road which meets with the main road into Turre.
9. Now its up to you if you wish to take the left turn into Turre and explore. If so, please remember this key turning point when retracing your route homeward.
