El Pueblito de Alfaix

Almeria, Spain
  • Spanish "village" design
  • 105 properties, from studios to villas
  • Fabulous views over Sierra Cabrera mountains
  • On-site facilities including restaurants, shop, bar - and swimming pools galore
  • Gardens bursting with colour
  • Plenty of fun - for grown-ups and children
  • Close to the glorious southern Spanish coast

Set amid rolling hills against a dramatic Cabrera mountain backdrop, El Pueblito de Alfaix was developed by an award-winning local architect to resemble an authentic Andalucian village. As a result, this delightful private resort retains a relaxed rural feel, with its Moorish-style whitewashed villas and apartments linked by attractive walkways lined with dry stone walls. Its beautifully landscaped grounds blend seamlessly into its undisturbed pastoral surroundings.

The towns and villages around El Pueblito have something for everyone - from those seeking a relaxing break by the sea, to more active holidaymakers interested in diving, swimming, tennis, sailing, cycling, fishing, riding, wind-surfing, water skiing, mountain biking and more.

Of course you won’t want to spend your entire time in the resort, you’ll be eager to explore the rest of the Almeria coast. Its landscape is striking, but that’s not all it has to offer – from stunning sandy beaches to famous film sets and a fascinating history, Almeria has it all. It also boasts the highest number of daylight hours of any location in Europe, so you’ll have plenty of time each day to get out there and see as much as possible.

Be sure to visit Almeria City, where an impressive Arab fortress, known as Alcazaba, overlooks the buildings below.

El Pueblito de Alfaix is part of the Holiday Property Bond portfolio offering exclusive access to over 1,400 properties to its 41,000 investors ("Bondholders"). If you are not already a Bondholder and would like further details please see below.

Appreciate the Moorish architecture

There are several Moorish palaces in Almeria. The aforementioned Alcazaba is one of them, but the Alhambra, or red fortress, is the most notable. In fact, it’s considered to be the most important piece of Moorish architecture in all of Spain, so visiting it is a must. The Alhambra is impressive both inside and out; the last and arguably greatest example of Moorish art was created within the palace, which was once home to Andalusia’s Moorish rulers between the 13th and 15th centuries

Hit the beach and soak up the sun

The majority of Almeria’s 100kms of beautiful coastline are part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and are therefore unspoilt. When you combine these surprisingly quiet beaches with the glorious weather, you have the ideal holiday destination. Almeria has the driest and sunniest climate in Spain. Visit anytime between early spring and late autumn to enjoy perfect sunbathing conditions.

Visit the sets of your favourite films

Tabernas is the only true desert in Europe and the home of many film sets as a result. Classics such as Indiana Jones, Doctor Zhivago, Lawrence of Arabia and Cleopatra were shot here, as were many spaghetti westerns. Some of the sets still remain, and can be visited for a fee.

See the famous troglodyte villages

You’ll need to travel inland to visit the troglodyte villages, where modern-day cave dwellers have carved homes within the soft rock. Called casas cuevas, these homes provide protection from the heat, so although you won’t be able to see inside them, the doors, windows and chimneys are all visible from the outside. It’s an amazing and unusual sight to behold.
