Visit the incredible Los Órganos

Try to make time to visit the stunning rock formations of Los Órganos when staying in Santa Ana.

This incredible natural display has been formed on the northern coast of the island of La Gomera, where the cliff face rises up out of the waves of the Atlantic Ocean to a height of roughly 80 metres. Huge tube-like formations stretch upwards in a pattern that resembles large organ pipes like those you may come across in great cathedrals, giving the rock its name.

The natural phenomenon has been created over time as vast ancient lava masses, which slowly cooled in this volcanic rock face, have been gradually exposed by the erosion of the sea and the coastal weather.

It is quite the spectacle to behold but the only way to see these interesting rocky tubes is from the sea itself, so if you do want to admire them it'll be a boat ride away. Boat trips are easy enough to come by and will take you on a pleasant excursion around La Gomera's attractive coastline. Hop aboard the boat at Valle Gran Rey or Playa Santiago to travel around the western coast, passing valleys and inlets on your journey north.
