Alton Towers

If you are in Staffordshire, Alton Towers makes a brilliant day out for everyone. The theme park is over 3 km2 in size and was first opened 35 years ago. The park has all the facilities you could possibly need on site including different restaurants. It opens between February and November and, during the peak summer months, opening times are usually 10am-6pm. It is best to double check the website though, when planning your visit.

Alton Towers prides itself on offering fun for all tastes with roller coasters, attractions, a water park, flat rides, live shows, beautiful gardens and golf courses. There is all kind of fun for children on offer and a huge range of rides for thrill seekers. Some of the more famous rides include Air where you 'fly' in your harness, swooping over and under around the site; Oblivion is famous for its 180 ft drop at 87°; Rita catapults its visitors forward at a speed of 0-100 km/ph in 2.5 seconds, and the new Smiler, which opened in 2013 and is the world's first 14 loop roller coaster. There are water rides to visit such as the River Rapids but there is a separate indoor water park too.

Have a look at their website to learn more about all the different attractions, and there are often offers to make use of too – so check their offers page!
