Autumn Fun at Harewood House in Yorkshire

Posted by Luci Ackers on 25 September 2015

The stately Harewood House is an 18th Century building in the heart of Yorkshire. Its grand rooms were crafted with the help of John Carr, Robert Adam and Thomas Chippendale, acclaimed architects and designers of their day; it boasts over 100 acres of incredible gardens, designed by Capability Brown and is home to a renowned Bird Garden. Harewood house promises fun for all the family, but this Half Term there's even more than normal going on in its grounds!

During the Half Term week there is a range of events taking place. Youngsters will be able to explore below stairs and get hands-on with biscuit decorating in the Pastry Room or badge making out in the grounds. Activities are taking place throughout the day with face painting and colouring in the courtyard, so feel free to come along and join in.

Head on over to the Bird Garden and watch the keepers feed the penguins. An array of birds live at Harewood including flamingos, birds of prey, parrots and lots more. Maybe you fancy taking a tour on the Deer Park Safari where you'll be treated to incredible views of the Yorkshire scenery and will learn about the Red, Fallow and Roe deer during their autumn rut. Or if you'd prefer more of a relaxing day, crunch through the autumn leaves on a walk around the castle or hide yourself away in the bookshop with a cup of tea and a good read. There will always be something exciting to see and do, take a look at the Harewood Website for prices, times and more information.
