Check out the latest addition to the quaint Yorkshire village of Askrigg!

In the heart of Wensleydale this little deli couldn’t be better situated to take advantage of all the fresh local produce that Yorkshire can offer.

In Market Place, just where the road meets Main Street, you will find Humble Pie, a delicatessen and fresh food take away that sells wonderful freshly-baked goods and delicious homemade food. It’s quite a treat, so be sure to visit while you’re in town.

What’s the story?

The new owners have been working tirelessly to get the place ready for their opening season. The little shop is a traditional stone building, beautifully furnished on the inside and newly decorated with a tasteful country vibe. The deli sells a great range of home-cooked takeaway meals, cakes and bakes, quiches and salads. You can even sit in for tea or coffee and cake.

Though the little building has seen a number of owners over the years, it’s actually not the first time we’re seeing Humble Pie in Askrigg; it is returning to the village after a 13 year absence. Owner Elizabeth first opened the little deli back in 1999 with three young daughters. Five years later she was sad to shut up shop, but little did she know that in 2017 her and her (now grown up) daughters would be reopening their beloved deli with a new look and a whole lot of enthusiasm! Humble Pie is now run by both mother and youngest daughter Betty. They proudly use local suppliers for their produce. The meat is from Hammonds of Bainbridge, milk is from Townhead Farm in Grassington; they get different cheeses from the Wensleydale Creamery, ice cream from Manor Farm in Thornton Rust, and jams and chutneys from Raydale Preserves at Stalling Busk in Askrigg.

The deli will be open from 8.30am to 5pm from Monday to Saturday.
