Experience a day out with a difference and discover The Forbidden Corner. Close to Leyburn in the Yorkshire Dales, this is a magical place little ones will love and promises to challenge both adults and children alike.

This large forest park was originally built as a private garden for the owner of the Tupgill Park estate. It opened to the public in 1997 and has grown and grown into a wonderful family attraction. This folly garden is filled with bizarre statues, meandering pathways, unique buildings and tunnels that lead nowhere.

Secret passageways will keep you guessing while underground chambers and grottos are great for exploring. Prepare for a surprise at every corner with water tricks to avoid and unusual statues and structures peering over hedges.

At the heart of the four-acre site, you can loose yourself in the labyrinthine underworld or younger guests can try a brass-rubbing quest. Wander through an aromatic herb garden and see the fish temple. Enjoy an adventurous day out with something for everyone but remember to grab a map so you don't miss out on any of the areas.

Round off the day by visiting the gift shop or stopping off for a bite to eat at the cafe, or something more substantial in the Saddle Room Restaurant.

It is important to know that admission is by advance booking only! You have to get tickets online or by phone before hand otherwise you might be turned away.

Despite the name, and the mystery of the attraction, it is actually pretty easy to find! It's located close to Leyburn and is well signposted from Middleham. If you're using a SatNav, use DL8 4TQ.

Her love of writing started from a young age and on rainy days nothing beats curling up in a secret corner with a good book.
