Walk Instructions
A walk along lanes and paths exploring the
local countryside.
Start/car parking - HPB Henllys
1. Leaving the driveway at Henllys turn right down
Henllys Lane to Wexham St and turn left to reach the
main street through Beaumaris, Castle St. Turn right
and continue past the shops to reach the West end of
the town. Continue on this road, which is part of the
Anglesey Coastal Path with lovely views of the Menai
Straits and Snowdonia.
2. As you leave the town, by the 40 mph speed limit
sign, follow the right turn signposted golf course and
then turn immediately left onto Cae Mair Uchaf (still
the coastal path). Follow this road as it goes up hill
and under a bridge. Continue for 1.5 km to Pen-y-parc
Reservoir on the left.
3. On reaching a cross roads turn right onto The Mile
Road. At the end of this road turn left and soon go over
a high stile on the right (before some old Almshouses)
to follow a footpath with a hedge on the left. Go over
a stile. At the end of the field the path turns right, with
a fence on the left, towards some farm buildings.
4. Cross over a stile, a road and another stile (opposite)
to a path with a wall on the right, and soon the Bulkeley
Memorial is on the right, in the next field.
It was built in 1875 in memory of Sir Richard Bulkeley
Williams-Bulkeley, tenants of the estate contributing
labour and materials.
5. At the end of the field, in some trees, go over a stile
and continue in the same direction to yet another stile.
Admire the views of The Great Orme at Llandudno and
the coast of Anglesey and even the remains of the old
priory at Penmon passed on walk no. 5 to Puffin Island.
6. Go over the stile and cross the fairway of the 5th
hole of the golf course with care. Continue in the same
direction going between the short red posts and turn
right, past a short blue post. Cross the 1st small bridge
on the right with yellow posts keeping to the right of the
fairway and aim for a concrete track.
7. On the concrete track turn right into woods just after
a high stile on the left. You are now in the grounds of
Henllys. Continue straight on, down some steps, right
over a bridge, past an old mill, up steps and then turn left
at the gates to pass the tennis courts and childrens’ play
area. From here return to your property.
