This year marks the second instalment of Buxton's annual Family Festival. Last year this Derbyshire town saw such success with the festival that it returns in full force for 2015. There's a little something for everyone going on during the Buxton Festival which is taking place between the 1st - 16th August and includes both outdoor and indoor activities and is rounded off with the Buxton Show which is taking place in the Pavilion Gardens from Saturday 29th – Monday 31st August. These historic gardens are a fantastic attraction that first opened in the 1870s and make a brilliant location for the Show which hosts a whole range of stalls with food, drink and crafts as well as classic cars and live music.

The Buxton Family Festival is great for all ages. An action packed fortnight includes recreation activities like hiking and zorbing, workshops, movies, music, fairs, arts & crafts and the circus! Different venues around Buxton are supporting the festival such as Go Ape and Poole's Cavern which is a stunning underground world, the Buxton Museum or the Grin Low Woods where youngsters will love the introduction to bushcraft.

There are one-off events as well as everyday activities so everyone can get stuck in. The town of Buxton has always been well known for its watery heritage and you can explore this at your own leisure using one of the self-guided walks. Before it was called Buxton the Romans named the town Aquae Arnemetiae which translates to 'the spa town of the sacred groves'. Then in the Victorian era holiday makers were drawn to the town once again for the supposed healing properties of the waters. Take a look at the collection of mobile-friendly maps at with interesting stop-off points and information and explore the history of Buxton for yourself.
