Walk Instructions
Start Point
From the riverside car park walk back to the village road, turn left. Pass a tiny Methodist Church before turning left again, along a signposted narrow path. Continue on a grass path along a low embankment, with the River Bure close on the left. Pass the Commission Drainage Mill which has a surviving brick tower, with a charming cottage and garden beside.
1. In a short distance at a modern drainage pump continue ahead to follow a concrete roadway beside Muck Fleet. At a junction with similar roadways go straight ahead, along a raised track of rather rough grass, still following Muck Fleet.
2. On reaching a minor road turn left for 500m. to walk to a junction with the main A1064. Turn left to walk along the roadside verge for 250m. to reach Acle Bridge, with various facilities including inn and public conveniences.
3. To return to Stokesby do not cross the bridge. Turn left to take a signposted narrow path beside an industrial unit, possibly a little overgrown but leading directly to the bank of the river. Turn right at the river bank to continue over grass, soon passing Bridge Farm. The path stays close to the river, across the water is the mouth of Acle Dike which allows boats to reach the edge of the town. Rejoin the outward route at point 1, turning left for the return to Stokesby.
