1 mile ordnance survey map reference SK 138 494 ROUTE A (FROM EAST TO SOUTH EAST) From the M1 leave Motorway at Junction 24 signed A453 Nottingham S from the south and A453 East Midlands/A6 Loughborough from the North. In both cases after reaching traffic lights on exit roundabout, take 2nd exit following signs for A50 Stoke/Derby/Alton Towers. After approximately 22 miles you come to a roundabout. Continue straight over and after 1 mile take the left hand feed signposted A515 Ashbourne. As you descend the slip road you come to a roundabout where you take the 2nd exit, in the 3 o'clock position, and pass under the A50. You then come to another roundabout where you take the second exit, in the 2 o'clock position, signposted A515 to Ashbourne. After about 9 miles at roundabout take first exit towards Leek A52/Alton Towers and at *second roundabout take exit signed A52 Leek/Mayfield/Alton Towers. Go over the bridge at Mayfield immediately after 50 speed restriction signs road starts to go uphill. Turn right to Okeover, Mappleton, Ilam (look out for cream coloured Lodge and take turn there off A52 ) Follow this minor road cross cattle grid , road passes Okeover Hall on your left, over 2nd cattle grid turn left at T-junction (signed Blore 2 miles ) follow this road and Blore Hall comes into view on the left of the road.

Approaching from North to North East

Come off at Junction 28, signed A38 Derby and Matlock. After 13 miles at first roundabout follow signs for Ring road, Matlock A6 and Burton A38 and Alton Towers. After 3 miles at next roundabout, take A52 signed Ashbourne (Esso Garage on roundabout). Continue on this road for 10½ miles. At roundabout follow signs for Leek A52, Buxton A515. After one mile at next roundabout follow signs for Leek/Alton Towers. Then follow instructions in Route A from *.

Approaching from A515 Buxton - Ashbourne

At Tissington Hall Crossroads turn right signposted Thorpe. At Dog & Partridge Pub T-junction turn right. Follow road through Thorpe past Peveril of the Peak Hotel on right. Over cattle grid, down hill, over another cattle grid at Farm. Izak Walton Hotel on right. Continue over small bridge. Follow road to Ilam. At Memorial turn left over bridge. Cattle Grid. Up Ilam Hill (steep with bends). At crossroads turn left, Blore Hall on right.

Approaching from M6 North - South

Leave motorway at Junction 18 Holmes Chapel. Follow signs for Congleton. Take A523 for Leek, past Rudyard Reservoir on right. Drive through Leek. Continue on A523 signposted Ashbourne. Through Bradnop. After approximately 10 miles through Waterhouse's Village. Continue on A523 up hill/bends on road. As road levels out major crossroads at Caltonmoor. A523 meets A52. Caltonmoor Guest House on right. Follow sign on left for Ilam. Continue along country road to Blore Crossroads. Straight on and Blore Hall is on right.

Approaching from South West

Leave M5 at Junction 4A, onto M42. Leave M42 at Junction 9 onto A446. At junction with A453/A38 northwards (direction Lichfield but skirting Lichfield) to Alrewas, where turn left onto A513. Follow to junction with A515, where turn right on A515 to Sudbury. At Sudbury, where A515 combines with A50 on dual carriageway for about 1 mile, turn left direction Uttoxeter, then turn right onto continuation of A515 to Ashbourne. After about 9 miles at roundabout take first exit towards Leek A52/Alton Towers. Then follow instructions in Route A from *.
